Partitions
On PC2 cluster system partitions are used to distinguish compute nodes with different hardware. That means that there is no partition with a higher priority or related things. Priorities are handled by Quality-of-Service instead.
Partitions on Noctua 1
The Noctua 1 cluster is composed of:
Node Spec | Partition | Job Time Limit | Naming | Count | CPU | Highest Instruction set | Sockets | Cores | SMT | Main Memory | Interconnect |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
login nodes |
| ln-000[1-2] | 2 | AVX-512 | 2 | 2x20 | off | 192 GB DDR4 | Intel Omni Path 100 Gbps, 1:1.4 blocking factor | ||

Quality-of-Service (QoS)
Please note that for the Early-Adopters-Program for Noctua 2 the accounting is disabled and all early adopters can use the default QoS.
The following QoS depend of the project usage:
QoS name | Usage | QoS- factor |
---|---|---|
cont | The project has used less that its M30 contingent in the last 30 days, i.e. U30<=M30. | 0.6 |
lowcont | M30<U30<=M90 | 0.4 |
nocont | U30>M90 | 0.2 |
suspended | project ist not active, i.e. expired, locked or hasn’t started yet | 0 |
The are also special QoS:
QoS name | Usage | QoS limits | QoS- factor |
---|---|---|---|
test | for test projects | at most 2 runnning jobs per user and at most 2 submitted jobs per user | 0.8 |
express | 1000 CPU-Core-h per user and month | 0.8 | |
fpgasynthesis | FPGA synthesis for FPGA projects | allowed partition on normal and largemem, only single-node jobs, at most 10 running jobs per user | 0.8 |
