Using Lumerical on Noctua 2

To use Lumerical on Noctua 2 you need the following prerequisites:

  • The url of the license server where the floating licenses are hosted. For users from Paderborn University, these licenses are hosted by the ZIM/IMT (see https://imt.uni-paderborn.de/en/license-server) and you can get the required information from your local infrastructure team.

  • A local installation of Lumerical on your work computer to be able to use the graphical interface. (If you don’t want to run the graphical interface on your work computer, you can use our remote desktop solution. This allows you to run graphical applications on our infrastructure and it only requires a web browser on your side. Please let us know, and then we can support you in the setup.)

  • An installation of the same Lumerical version on our HPC system. This only has to be done once per compute project and has very likely already been done by someone in your compute project. It is usually installed in the group directory, i.e., /pc2/groups/hpc-prf-[abbreviation of compute project]/. If Lumerical is not yet available for your compute project or not the version you need, please refer to the section One-time Setup.

Set up for Users

One-time Setup for Compute Projects

The following steps only have to be performed once per compute time project:

  1. Install Lumerical in the group directory, i.e., /pc2/groups/hpc-prf-[abbreviation of compute project]/ following the conventional installation procedure.

  2. Check in the list above if a dependency module for your Lumerical version is already available. If it is not yet available, please contact pc2-support@uni-paderborn.de so that they can create a suitable one for your version.
